Great Britains new Kings of the Ring!
WAKO K1 rules a big hit AGAIN!!!
Studio 2000 of Derby run by Sai Varley will be celebrating this week!
Andy Johnson has just lifted the WAKO Pro British K1 Rules title on Sunday 18th January 2009 to start his New Year off with a real bang! In an absolute toe to toe battle neither
fighter was relentless!
Scott Sykes from SDF gym
was always strong and
always on the attack with
good varying combinations
but Johnson was showing
clean strong technique. So
what was going to prevail.
Power or Scoring
technique? Sykes is also known for his power so was he trying to force a lead and then step it up even more? The audience were on the edge of their seats! In round three the writing was on the wall as Johnson had landed a kick into Sykes ribs with true WAKO K1 rules devastating effect, a further attack to the same area left the corner and medics retiring Sykes to give Andy Johnson his just rewards.
Maybe we will see these two guys in action together again?
ALEX Mc KENZIE of SDF SHEFFIELD
PAUL POWERS GYM
WINS THE 1ST EVER
WAKO K1 RULES BRITISH TITLE
CREATING WAKO WORLD HISTORY
In a terrific display of power and skill Alex Mc Kenzie paced himself through the 1st round when Teeside Thai's strong, fast and furious Jonny Mc Askill took the fight to him.
In the second Alex was ready and waited for the mistake where Mc Askill started to tire and then left himself open and it happened.
Mc Kenzie took the opporunity and closd Mc Askill into his own corner where he finished the fight with the referee stepping him to stop him taking any further punishment. The fight scheduled for 5 x 3 minutes was a perfect fight to represent the 1st ever WAKO K1 rules British title. Well done to both athletes!
MULTIPLE WORLD CHAMPION ADDS ELITE
TITLE TO HIS COLLECTION
Sharp witted and ringcraft master Marlon "The Game" Hunt proved too slippery for the awesome power of World Muay Thai Champion Christain Di Paolo of Sheffields Legend Gym by beating him on points in a 12 round fight which was a battle of the gladiators as promised right from the start. The fighters fought hammer and tongue and although Di Paolo had a massive strength attribute this alone was not going to win him the fight. Hunt scoring the more clean points took the title in a split decision. There was so much respect before and after the fight between the two, they were and are a credit to the sport!
Hunt now prepares for his next World title fight!
Split Decision gives Nudd British Title
A very close split decision decided the outcome of the long awaited fight between Rob Hingston Taurus/Red v Mike Nudd Touchgloves/Blue.
The 2 - 1 verdict went in favour of Nudd.
This was 7 rounds of pure desire and determination to win. Both fighters showed hardened fighting abilities and both stood up to some very big punches.

GB's Golden Girl "Kerry-Louise" is seen here in tears of joy as she is overwhelmed at her recent 12 round Unanimous points defeat over KIWI fighter and New Zealand National Champion Georgie Tutaki.
Tutaki never let up once, even though Kerry-Louise sent in some of the biggest shots most people have seen for a long time. Tutaki's head went realing back and she just focused and came forward again and again.
Kerry who actually has KO'd or stopped men in the ring in training and stopped most of her female opponents said "The girl had one hell of a chin, she was just not going down"
Kerry-Louise now has a new target, The WAKO Pro Low Kick and WAKO Pro K1 Rules World titles. She said "It might take a while and I may take some defeats on the way in the new styles. It will be like starting again. My management will be looking for suitable opponents as I can hardly start as a novice but also I am not a World level at either style yet, so some careful initial fight matching will have to be had, obviously I am not leaving full contact but I feel involving the other styles will give me more variation and the possibility of more fights!"
